Twitter users could drop a Tweet asking to be roasted and the official Wendy\u2019s account would counter with a ruthless response. No Twitter account was safe, and the made-up social media holiday became an annual affair that was a massive success.<\/p>\n<div class=\"hs-embed-wrapper\" style=\"position: relative; overflow: hidden; width: 100%; height: auto; padding: 0px; max-width: 540px; min-width: 256px; display: block; margin: auto;\">\n<div class=\"hs-embed-content-wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>Finally! A place for men to feel safe online. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NationalRoastDay?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NationalRoastDay<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Wendy&#8217;s (@Wendys)<br \/>\n   <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Wendys\/status\/1359937880773255173?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 11, 2021<\/a>\n  <\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In 2022, National Roast Day generated over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qsrmagazine.com\/news\/wendys-announces-return-national-roast-day\">130 million impressions<\/a>&nbsp;in a matter of hours and made Wendy\u2019s an instant trending topic on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Wendy\u2019s moved National Roast Day from Twitter to TikTok, turning it into a three-day event from April 12-14 &nbsp;(previously, it was limited to 24 hours). To participate, TikTok users posted videos asking Wendy\u2019s to roast them. The official Wendy\u2019s account then responded with stitched videos delivering roasts from an animated \u201cWendy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If the comment section was any indication, this year\u2019s roast didn\u2019t bring the heat.<\/p>\n<p>Under the roast videos, comparisons to the company\u2019s previous roasts on Twitter were frequently mentioned. Users left comments such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201chow is your roast colder than your fries\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cthe Twitter guy is on vacation\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cTwitter Wendy\u2019s needs to roast TikTok Wendy\u2019s\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThis person AIN\u2019T the same as Wendy\u2019s Twitter\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are a few reasons why the latest roast felt lukewarm compared to previous years.<\/p>\n<h3>TikTok\u2019s Strict Community Guidelines<\/h3>\n<p>Compared to Twitter, TikTok has more strict community guidelines around what is considered bullying or harassment. Content that is deemed too harsh can quickly be taken down from the video platform, adding limitations to what Wendy\u2019s could say during the roast.<\/p>\n<h3>Video Delivery<\/h3>\n<p>Sharing roasts via text on Twitter allows a bit more room for interpretation. Users can read the tweets sarcastically or imagine a specific voice delivering the roast.
